"Diary of a Chicken" Book Writing Project:
Students will not only be learning about chickens, but they will also explore the concept of perspective or point-of-view. I've included a book cover and 5 numbered pages to make a super cute student-written book titled, "Diary of a Chicken". These are easily some of the best, most creative stories my kiddos write all year! I always love to display them in the hallway together with the Chicken Life Cycle Wheels.
Five Graphic Organizers:
To help your students through the writing process, there are five different graphic organizers to use while brainstorming and writing their first drafts.
If you choose to raise chicks in your classroom, use this egg-shaped Observation Journal to monitor their growth and changes.
Writing from the perspective of someone else can be a challenge for some students. So I've included four different "Point-of-View Glasses" to print and tape onto children's sunglasses. Use these when discussing the perspective of an embryo, hatchling, chick and adult chicken. Cute, cute, CUTE!
Six Life Cycle Posters with Photographs:
Provides basic information about each stage of the life cycle, as well as informative photos of each one.
Chicken Life Cycle Wheel Craftivity:
This craftivity looks like a chicken with a life cycle wheel on it's belly... I love it! I've provided three different versions to allow for differentiation or different grade levels. These chickens make an adorable bulletin board display, as well!
Ten Word Wall Picture Cards:
Picture cards for your Word Wall to help reinforce new chicken vocabulary.
Life Cycle Sequencing Activity:
A one page cut-and-glue chicken life cycle sequencing activity.
Chickens! Kids LOVE them and they are SO MUCH fun to teach, as well! I hope you and your kiddos have TONS of fun with this set!
