Brought to you by Kodaly Music With Mrs Perry, this game song is great for teaching phrases and tika tika. It is totally interactive and has embedded piano accompaniment in it, along with accompaniment parts. Here is what you get:

*RHYTHM - 3 pages dedicated to rhythm. Prepare students for tika tika by having them read the chicken eggs and chicken legs. Prepare the rhythm by having students drag rhythms from bales of hay to the fence where the chicken is. The fence sections are beats. Practice in the same way, except that you will be dragging tika tikas, titi and ta.

*PHRASES - This is found on 3 pages. First, the students will listen to embedded piano and watch the chicken hop along the fence. Lead them to see that the chicken hopped on the top fence 3 times. This leads them to the repetition, when writing the rhythm, and comparing and contrasting. When writing the rhythm on 2 other pages, the beats (sections of the fence) are organized under giant chicken feathers, which are phrases. You can draw phrases in them and discuss.

*ACCOMPANIMENT - Embedded piano accompaniment is here for your xylophonists and drummers to play with. There is a prepare drum part and a practice drum part. You choose which you need.
