This lesson focuses on the topic of child marriage. I use this lesson as an anticipatory lesson in my World Studies course before reading the book, I Am Nujood, Age 10 and Divorced. I have also used this lesson on its own in my Social Studies course when discussing oppression.
In this lesson, students will gain a deeper understanding of the topic of child marriage as they participate in an "online scavenger hunt" exploring videos, websites, and an infographic (QR codes and links included). Answer key included.
This lesson can be assigned as homework or completed in class. When I use this lesson with my World Studies and Social Studies students, I show the National Geographic video "Too Young to Wed" (link provided in the resource) on my smartboard. Many of the questions are addressed in the video. I assign the remaining questions as independent work.
