PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

This year, my students have really gotten into books where the main character talks directly to the reader. The pigeon books by Mo Willems are probably the most recent (and popular) example of this. For lack of a better term, I call these “talk to the reader” books. We decided to write our own “talk to the reader” books, so this TpT product is a result of this activity.

This download includes the following sheets to create your own books:
* character planning page
* "story board" or "conceptual drawing" page (4 blank boxes for kids to sketch out ideas
* various speech bubbles with and without lines
* lined pages for students who do not want to write in speech bubbles (pages with lines on left side, right side, or top/bottom)
* 4 different borders and "Written and Illustrated by..." for covers
* About the Author page

I also included samples of books I used as mentor texts for this type of writing.
