This lesson plan focuses on the children of the Great Depression. Students analyze letters written to Mrs. Roosevelt in cooperative learning groups to get an idea of the challenges that children faced. If your students have access to google cardboard and google expeditions there is an activity included that allows students to see the Mattox Family home. At the conclusion of the lesson students will have the choice of two assessments either creating a toy from the Great Depression or writing a speech for President Roosevelt discussing one of his New Deal Programs.
