The main idea of this project is for students to create an activity book geared for a specific age. Students must understand at what level of education toddlers and school-age children are able to accomplish before completing this project. I allowed my students to use a milestones chart to help them begin activities based on what children are able to do at that age.
Students will create new and updated activities that engage and teach children.Students will create a child’s activity book which contains 5 different activities. Each activity must be representing a specific subject, here are the choices of subjects: Math, Science, Language Arts, Social Studies, Health, Art, Technology, and Physical education.Students will select one age group from infants to school-aged children. The project criterion is listed in the rubric.
I allowed my students to create their activity books using a method they were most comfortable with such as canva.com, google slides or google docs. Student printed their books in color and pieced them together as they wanted and submitted their final draft to me. This project took students approximately one week to complete in class, this time could be shorter if you wanted your students to complete for homework as well.
I provided a student example, which this student used Canva.com to create his/her project. (Names were taken off of project)
- create play activities such as mathematics, science, physical movement, outdoor play, art, and music that enhance a toddler's growth and development;
