Socratic seminars are a great way to engage children, get them to use higher order thinking skills, and meet standards for speaking and listening! Big Kids LOVE reading children's books and this product "pushes" them to think deeper. These seminars are wonderful if you are just starting, and equally as great if Socratic seminars are something your students have done before.
This product includes seminar questions for 15 children's books, a rubric for the teacher, a lesson overview for the teacher, and a self-evaluation for students to fill out after the seminar. A "conversational moves" poster and a Socratic overview poster is included. This product includes Socratic seminars for the following books:
