    In C is for China: and ABC Book with Facts & Photos about Chinese Culture, Geography, and History, each letter of the alphabet represents an aspect of Chinese history, geography, or culture and presented on its own page with at least one photograph that supports the text.

    * Also included in this ABC China book are 4 language activities for students to extend their learning. The 1st activity asks students to identify particular grammar structures, the 2nd activity offers students five questions for discussion or writing responses, the 3rd activity provides a template (in two styles) for writing an acrostic poem about China, and 4th fourth activity asks students to sort the words presented in the alphabet book into various categories.

    * C is for China also includes background information for teachers, a list of the ELA Common Core standards addressed in the product, and a pronunciation guide to all the Chinese words in the book.

    The Chinese New Year Word Search Puzzles use the names of the 12 animals of the Chinese zodiac as the words to search for.

    * With 3 levels of difficulty, easy, intermediate, and challenging, the word search puzzles are differentiated so students of all abilities can enjoy using them when it's Chinese New Year, whenever you teach about China, or when you just want to do a fun activity.

    * Each word search puzzle is illustrated with a photograph of one of the animals of the Chinese zodiac.

    * A list of the years each Chinese zodiac animal represents is included in this product.

    * All the word searches come in both color and black-and-white versions and have accompanying answer keys.

    The Chinese New Year and Chinese Zodiac Writing and Reading Activities resource includes 3 literacy tasks:

    1) a short information text about the Chinese Zodiac that can be read aloud to students or which they can read themselves, depending on their reading level, with comprehension questions and an answer key on separate pages;

    2) a 3-paragraph information text about the Chinese New Year holiday, with accompanying questions and answer key;

    3) opinion writing about the Chinese Zodiac--for each of the 12 animals in the Chinese Zodiac, there is one page with a photograph of the animal and a short description of the characteristics of people born during that animal year. The task for students is to write a paragraph stating whether they agree or disagree that the characteristics for the animal year in which they were born accurately describe them. Three model paragraphs at different levels of writing are included as guides for students.

    * A rubric is provided so you can easily assess your students' work.

    * ELA Common Core standards addressed are: W.3.1a, W.3.1b, W.3.1c, W.3.1d, W.4.1a, W.4.1b, W.4.1c, W.4.1d, W.5.1a, W.5.1b, W.5.1c, W.5.1d.

    In the Chinese New Year ELA Task Cards for Mechanics and Grammar resource, each task card has a sentence about one of the 12 animals of the Chinese Zodiac on it and the task for students is to identify the type of error and then fix it so the sentence is written correctly.

    * Sentences are written in simple English so ELLs at an intermediate proficiency level or older students who are not reading at grade level can comprehend them; younger students can also use them as a review.

    * Multiple choice responses are included on each task card. An answer sheet for students and an answer key for teachers are both provided.

    * Color and black-and-white versions of the task cards, answer sheet

    * Answer keys are included.

    * ELA Common Core standards addressed are: L.3.1, L.3.2, L.3.3, L.4.1, L.4.2, L.4.3, L.5.1, L.5.2, L.5.3, L.6.1, L.6.2, L.6.3.

    In the Chinese Zodiac Clipart set, the images of the animals come from photographs I took of an artifact I bought in Xi'an, China.
