Chinese Dragons are a big hit in the art room. Both boys and girls enjoy learning how to draw and paint this mythical creature. There is ample opportunity for creative expression and this lesson in particular, teaches wonderful drawing and watercolor skills.
If you are anything like me, I tend to misplace my dragon handouts from year to year or forget to write down the information that I found in books or on the internet. To help you out, I've included two Chinese Dragon illustrations that are simplified just enough not to overwhelm the child artist. Use them as handouts or even as pages to color. Also included are facts that you can share with the students that will assist with the drawing portion of the project. All your dragon needs in one place!
The 13-page bundle includes the following:
4th Grade student gallery
Teaching tips for 3rd, 5th and 6th grade students
2 dragon drawings/idea handout
1 Color-Me Dragon handout
How to Draw a Dragon handout
Chinese Dragon Facts
Full-color photo tutorial
This lesson requires simple art supplies: Sulphite paper or watercolor paper, oil pastel, chalk pastel and pan watercolor trays
