Chinese fashion and ancient costumes are glorious! I am a math teacher that was charged with teaching International Studies with a focus on China, so if I can teach it anyone can!!
In my middle school classroom, clothes are at the top of all the priority lists even for boys. I started where I knew I'd get their attention! We used these books to create our own paper dolls, fashion catalogs, decorations for displays, and used some logic to compare and contrast fashion trends.
These four books are in gently used condition, but all the pages are still uncut. We used these for inspiration only. One book has the pages separated from the cover. The books are rare and hard to find. I'm offering them at a fraction of the cost they are sold separately.
#1 Chinese Fashions, Ming-Ju Sun
This is a coloring book full of very detailed fashions from all of the ancient Chinese dynasties. There are historical descriptions with each illustration.
#2 Chinese Girl and Boy Paper Dolls. Barbara Steadman
This book is like new condition. The dolls and clothes are in mint condition - no cuts or marks. This book is a great illustration of what children wore for centuries.
#3 Chinese Opera Costumes Paper Dolls, Ming-Ju Sun
I detached the pages from the cover in order to display them around the classroom. There is some wear on the paper edges, but the illustrations are completely unmarred or cut. This has great illustrations from the Chinese Opera which was my students' favorite topic. The Chinese Opera offers so much from history, drams, music, fashion, make-up... We could have spent months discovering the Chinese Opera!
#4 Traditional Chinese Fashions Paper Dolls, Ming-Ju Sun
The illustrations in this book are gorgeous! These are more modern fashions. The kids used this to compare and contrast fashions from much earlier in Chinese history. The girls really liked the hairstyle examples. The book is in very good condition with no cuts or marks.
Thanks so much! I hope you enjoy them as much as we did!
