Chinese New Year- Year of the Horse 2014
Directions for Hanging Pendant Decoration

If you were born in 1954, 1966, 1978, 1990, 2002 or 2014, this is your year!

Celebrate the Chinese zodiac lunar calendar with this decoration. You can make a hanging pendant following these instructions or take the horse design and apply it to a Chinese New Year banner, bookmark or any other project you have in mind!

Tools and Materials:
• White copy paper
• Red paper or poster board
• Scissors
• Glue stick
• Hole punch
• Colored twine, thin ribbon or embroidery floss
• (optional) A few beads for hanger and/or tassel to thread on twine before tying to decoration

1. Print out the Year of the Horse PDF
2. Use the octagon shape as a guide to cut out red paper or poster board; punch holes in top and bottom
3. Cut out horse art circle and glue on to red octagon
4. Thread about 8” of the twine through the top hole and tie a loop
5. Make tassel by cutting several pieces of 6” twine, fold in half and tie together, and then bind a small piece around the top
6. Thread and tie tassel through the bottom hole with another small piece of twine
