Chinese New Year 2023 Activities and Craft and Reading Comprehension Passage

Are you needing something fun and educational for Chinese New Year? This unit includes reading and writing activities and a craft. Your students will enjoy learning about how Asian cultures celebrate Lunar New Year. This year the celebration begins on January 22nd.

These fun and easy features include:

• Chinese character writing activity- Page that has several Chinese characters shown. After practicing writing the characters, the students write a sentence.
• Chinese Zodiac activity- Chinese Zodiac calendar and worksheet
• Tally Mark and Graphing Activity - graph your classmates' zodiac sign
• Comprehension passage- Nonfiction passage about Chinese New Year and comprehension questions.
• Craft- Directions with pictures on how to make a Chinese paper lantern.
