Product Description
We are currently studying China and the Chinese New Year, and I wanted something that was a bit more ELA based. In this activity, students are asked to read a two page article about the traditions and festivities of Chinese New Year.

The students are then asked to step into the shoes of a young boy or girl that lives in China and is celebrating Chinese New Year. Students then write an “I Am…” poem using the information they have learned.

Of course you don’t need to, but I found this project worked the best when I printed the lantern on card stock. We then placed red, yellow, and orange streamers at the bottom of the lantern. Again, this is optional, but makes for a great hallway decoration!

Thanks for looking!
