Chinese New Year Literacy Activities

I created these literacy activities to help my student practice the followings skills with fun and engaging activities. All of the activities can be used with whole group, small group, or at independent centers. In addition, each activity is aligned with 2nd grade Common Core standards, but can easily be adapted to fit other grade levels. All of the activities require minimal prep!

The skills and activities included are:

Suffixes –er and –est
* Sort
* Scoot
* Sentence Match
* Rule Posters

Common and proper nouns
* Sort
* Scoot

Consonant clusters wh-, sh, and th
* Scoot
* Sort

Alphabetical order
* Three differentiated levels
* ABC order to the first letter, second letter, and third letter

Included with ALL four activities are:

* Word cards
* Answer Keys
* Recording Sheets
* Teacher Directions
* Student Directions

All activities are aligned with the skills in Houghton Mifflin, Theme 3, Story 1: Chinatown, but can easily be used without the HM curriculum.
