Just like any restaurant, this menu includes 3 main sections for a drawing center: appetizers, entrees, and desserts. The appetizers include a list of materials, tools, techniques, and artists. The entrees include several project ideas with instructions. The desserts are the assessments for the projects. There are several types of assessments they can choose including reflections, definitions, and the use of elements and principles. Last Spring, I took a course on Choice Based Art through the Art of Ed.com. During that course and after, I have been working on supplements for my classes. This is one of several menus for the centers in my room that I have been working on to help my students transition to a choice classroom. I want the students to be able to be independent thinkers. These menus will help guide them through the process of choice and begin to teach them to think like artists.
