If you are interested in the "un-homework" movement, Choice Homework has been designed for YOU! Thousands of teachers are re-examining their homework routines in favor of less or even no homework.
Choice Homework is all about offering kids a choice in what tasks they complete. Options include possible oral practice, thinking choices, and active options. Students may choose to do any (or none) of the options.
Not only that, but we've also added a choice for working on a weekly S.T.E.A.M. challenge, a challenge planning page and a form to report on what was done, how it was done, and what the student learned.
Do you use the 2014 Journeys program? Choice Homework pairs the Unit 2 skills with two optional practice activities in spelling, English, reading - every week! Plus the S.T.E.A.M. challenge resources!
Attached to each of the five weekly Choice Homework forms are tickets for students to use when they complete an optional activity. These tickets are entered into a drawing for free or low-cost rewards within your classroom.
If you want to encourage reading outside of class, use the reading tickets to reward students who read on their own.
