Bring your lessons to life and capture your students’ attention with this cute interactive resource. It has been created as an activity to use on the Promethean board to help your students practice contraction skills you have previously taught. It can be used as a whole-class or small group activity.
What’s included in this resource:
• Two separate flipcharts, each set containing 10 slides.
- Set 1 gives the contraction and the children must choose the two words that it is made from.
- Set 2 gives the two words and the children must make the contraction.
• An optional PDF worksheets to go along with each lesson.
In set 1 the children choose the two words that make up the contraction on the engine. They must move the cargo with the correct answers down and place them on top of each empty car. If the answer is correct, you will hear the train whistle. If not, the child should put it back and try again.
In set 2, the engine contains two words and the children need to make the contraction by moving the letters around. Letters that are to be discarded can be moved and placed inside the blue cargo car. The apostrophe is moved from the smoke stack to where it belongs. When the child believes his/her answer is correct, click on the ANSWER button at the lower right and the answer will appear on the blue cargo of the car. If the answer is correct, you may let the child click on the largest white cloud to hear the train whistle as a reward.
