This mini-book presents different paths a bill might take on its way to becoming a law. In order to understand the story, students should know the following terms: Congress, House of Representatives, Senate, senator, and veto. The bill in question relates to composting so teachers may want to briefly explain what composting is (if students are unfamiliar).
When I use this story in my classroom, I have students read in pairs and write down each decision they make. When students reach "game over" I ask them to start over again and make different choices. I require students to take three different paths so that they get three different results.
