Teacher Testimonial

"My students know how to multiply and how to divide with fluency, they just don't know WHEN to use each operation! They are excellent at solving word problems when we are working on one specific operation but when all operations are mixed together, it's a disaster!"

I've spent a decade coaching math teachers and I hear the same story again and again. My students never know when to use which operation. The best solution I've found is to teach this a skill separate from the algorithm. Knowing how to multiply decimals and knowing when to multiply decimals are two very different things. This game removes the "solve" part of the equation and all the anxiety that goes with it. When a student simply has to practice choosing the operation, they are more focused one one thing and more likely to master it.

For the first five games, students choose between two commonly mixed up operations such as Addition vs. Subtraction, Addition vs. Multiplication, or Multiplication vs. Division. In the last five games, students choose between all four basic operations. All the problems in this game have decimal numbers.
