I always like to get the students actively engaged in my classroom with a friendly competition. My students enjoy the challenge of a competition and I am always trying new ideas.
I call this game "PING." The object of the game PING is to burst the bubble with the correct Spanish word before the other player.
In order to burst the bubble, one must:
(1) make the sound chosen at the beginning of the game, for example,
“PING” (sounds must be unique),
(2) call out the word in Spanish that is inside the bubble you are bursting,
and (3) color the bubble with your color marker.
For an added challenge, the caller uses a description of the vocab word rather than the word. Example: number of eggs in a dozen. Players would look for “doce.”
There are 3 game participants, 1 caller and 2 challengers. It can also be played with 5 participants, 1 caller and 2 groups of 2 challengers.
At the end of the game, the person with the most bubbles colored with their color marker wins.
