Want an EASY and QUICK way to give a daily grade in a performance class that provides valuable feedback and is fair? This is it! I needed a quick and easy way to monitor daily grades for my chorus and theater students. The best part? It saves a ton of paper. I print 1 copy for each student that they keep all semester in a binder- each week they mark the date over the point column that best describes their participation. They are able to see improvements from week to week and they have a concrete, exact explanation of the desired class behaviors. In addition, I print 9 copies per class, per semester, which I keep in a binder. On these, I do a quick assessment for each student one day of the week, which tallies to a 100. Two weeks for the whole class take only one piece of paper. There is also room on each class assessment form to mark special notes, such as behavior incidents or tardies, for that week. I have tried many different ways of giving daily grades in the past fifteen years, and by far, this has proven the most beneficial for my students, providing the information they need to have an awesome, productive rehearsal.
This is a microsoft word document and uses tables for easy changes. I change my student list, and then copy the whole table. Print the first two pages double sided. The entire file is previewed in pdf mode.
Hope it helps!
