♫ Flexibility and Phrasing Warm-up for middle school or high school chorus to develop Breath stamina.
♪ Goal #1 is to sing each line (phrase) in one breath.
♪ Goal #2 is flexibility with each pitch distinctly heard
♪ Sing on "Ah" for the most open vowel sound.
♪ Make sure your "ah" vowel is nice and tall, with a relaxed jaw and the tongue resting behind the bottom teeth.
♪ This warm-up has two phrases: ascending and descending.
♪ Try to make each line (phrase) in one breath.
♪ Effective for high school, middle school and upper elementary.
♪ Each sequence changes keys.
♪ Using the .mp3 recording is a great way to get out from behind the piano and walk around your singers and listen to them. (See links below)
♪ Check for mouth shapes and tongue placement while you're at it!
Using this strategy also builds personal relationships with your students.
