This is by far my favorite writing piece of the year, and I can say the same for my third-grade students. Students are told that there's a mouse that lives in their school, but his family may not have enough to eat while the kids are away on Holiday break! So, Chris Mouse decides to travel around the world to find some new foods to bring back to his family. Along the way, he learns about each of the countries and the holiday celebrations each celebrates.
PLEASE NOTE: This is a digital resource, which means that this can be used with Google Slides, Google Drive, or Google Classroom. Students use digital interactive graphic organizers, maps, and informational pieces to research and write this story.
The following items are included:
*Directions for students
*Graphic Organizer to help students research and find the information they need for their stories.
*Informational pages about Germany, Spain, Poland, and Australia.
*A map to track the travel of Chris Mouse
This is a project that could probably be done with just the informational pages about each of the countries provided, however, I would highly suggest turning this into a research project for students. It means a lot more when the students find the information themselves, and the skills the students obtain from this research piece means much more than simply grabbing it from the articles.
Directions are included on how to copy these files directly into your Google account. I hope this makes things easy for you, and super easy to share with your students. There is also a video included explaining how to share these resources.
Here are some of the reasons I am using Google Classroom/Digital Resources this year:
★I'm going paperless.
★Students work directly in the file
★Preserve ideas and references
★Improve students writing
★Because I am getting Chromebooks for my entire class!!!
★Students can access anywhere
★Kids can use these materials on iPads, Chromebooks, and other devices
I hope you enjoy this as much as our kids have the last few years.
