A timeless holiday story with a beautiful message about love, sacrifice, and appreciation...
I find that kids love to be read to, no matter how old they are.
I show this PowerPoint to my 11th graders, and they are attentive and engaged by the story and the graphics even if it's the day before holiday break.
This is a PowerPoint presentation of O. Henry's classic Christmas story,
"The Gift of the Magi."
I've placed a paragraph on each slide and adorned the slide with graphics, one relevant to the text and one a Victorian Christmas image appropriate to the era during which the story was written.
The background is a holiday red and green and the font is a clear, large Tahoma, easily read from the back of the classroom.
At the end of the story there are about 13 questions about character, theme and allusion (the title).
This story should be a Christmas tradition and this presentation is a tricky way of having students read or listen to the beautiful tale of love and sacrifice.
Thank you for your consideration.
