This is a terrific, "hands-on", addition Christmas themed math resource for primary grade students. Children flip dominoes one at a time and must use good logical reasoning skills to decide where to place their dominoes.
There are two different styles of boards, allowing for a MISSING ADDEND variation.
These are wonderful partner games, or the rules can be altered slightly to accommodate a more cooperative style of game.
Players should be encouraged to discuss their math strategies out loud, as the decision making component of the games is important.
As a math center activity, these games allow for your students to work in pairs or on their own.
Students can choose from several different games but they must both be playing on the same board, if/when competing.
All of the game boards come in black-line masters, so they make a perfect addition to any math journal.
Send this game home with a bag of dominoes (or cut out a set from the black line master set included) and the parents of your "Little Geniuses" will ask for more!
What a fantastic way for children to practice their addition skills to twenty four, during the festive season.
