This is a terrific, "hands-on" adding to twenty four, Christmas math game for primary students. Children flip dominoes one at a time and must use good logical reasoning skills to decide where to place their domino, so that when it is added to another domino they will equal the sum of the star on their Christmas tree.
This is a a wonderful partner game, or the rules can be altered slightly to accomodate a more cooperative style of game.
Players should be encouraged to discuss their math strategies out loud, as the decision making component of the game is key.
As a math center activity, this game allows for your students to work in pairs or on their own.
Students can choose from seven different games but they must both be playing on the same board, when competing.
All of the game boards come in black-line masters so they make a perfect addition to any game or math journal.
Send this game home with a bag of dominoes and the parents of your "Little Geniuses" will ask for more!
What a fantastic way for children to practice their addition skills to twenty four, during the festive season.
