Students can use their inferencing skills to guess the countries.
Christmas Around the World has the country's Christmas greeting, a hint to the location on the map, and then lists different facts about the country's Christmas holiday traditions.
The slide after each of the country's facts then shows the location on a world map, the flag, and the name of the country.
The next 3-5 pages contain an arial view, landmarks and/or cities, landforms, etc... from the country.
Use as a whole class or place in a center for students to view in small groups or individually. Students may choose to find a country they would like to learn more about based on the facts and begin some research to share with the entire class.
Have the students find a different country and make their own "slide" using Powerpoint, Keynote, comic life, etc... or just paper/poster board.
There are 34 countries.
Please note that I gathered the Christmas Holiday Facts from Around the World from different websites. The websites are listed at the end to find more information. Some traditions vary greatly within countries. Some traditions are old traditions and some are new.
There are some facts that would fun to have students do a little inquiry to find out even more information. While researching the different countries, I had many "I Wonder" and "I Notice" questions/statements that even I want to dig deeper into!
