This is a perfect clay project for high school students since it's so approachable and they can get so creative with it. Grade 9's and 10's especially love it.
It's a Christmas ornament project that uses two pinch pots put together to create a hollow sphere to form the ornament.
This project handout goes through...
-A few key terms they need to know when working with clay
-The steps of the project (sketchbook planning / pinch pots / designing)
-A rubric to make marking easy for you
I've purposefully left out the step where you either GLAZE them or PAINT them because it depends on what you have access to!
[if you can't afford glazes, it works great to just paint with acrylic paint and spray them with spray gloss to create a "faux" glaze look]
This works great with both air dry clay and self drying clay, or even modelling clay.
- you can have them attack a mini top hook if you want, to have them be "hangable"
- ensure you poke a hole in the bottom of them if you're putting them in the kiln!!
