These December bellringers reinforce middle school reading skills with Christmas-related Bible verses! Each warm-up slide focuses on a specific Bible verse that is part of the Christmas story, from either the Old or New Testament, and guides students to analyze cause and effect, connotation, irony, characterization, and more as they use inference skills and context clues to dig deeper into God's word and experience the story of Jesus more fully.
There are 15 Bible verse slides with three questions each, as well as three pages of accompanying worksheets (one sheet per week) containing the same verses and questions for students to write on independently.
You can use these Bible verse bellringers in a variety of ways! Put up the day's slide and let students read and answer the questions before discussing as a class, use an interactive whiteboard to analyze the verses together as a close read, or do a think-pair-share before discussing answers. You can even chunk several verses (or an entire page) for a whole-period activity or Christmas substitute work.
**All Bible passages are taken from the World English Bible translation, which is in the public domain.
