This is an eight page reproducible book with a compare/contrast graphic organizer on the last page. The book tells the legend of Martin Luther bringing the first Christmas tree inside his home. It then compares Christmas trees of the past to our present Christmas trees (ornaments, lights, etc.).
Also included is a writing activity where students can write about their favorite holiday tradition.
How to prepare the reader:
-Copy the pages (pages 3-10) on 8 1/2 x 11 inch paper
-Be sure to collate the pages when copying
-For each set (pages 3-10), staple the pages on the left side (two staples for the top book and two staples for the bottom)
-Cut the set in half and you will have two books for each set of copies you make
Note that although the content is very appropriate for 1st grade, the readability level of the text will be challenging.
