Your students will love practicing their CVC skills with this winter CVC center. Students will sort the cookies based on their medial sounds (short a, short e, short i, short o, short u). A cut and glue activity is included as a 'quick check' after the center has been practiced!
What is the focus of this product?
This product allows students to work on phonemic awareness skills of identifying the medial sound of CVC words. Students will take each of the 30 cookies and determine which plate it belongs on.
What is included with my purchase?
You will receive a set of teacher directions, student directions, a picture/answer key, all center materials (in full color and black and white) and a student worksheet.
How many pages are included?
The total page count of this resource is 25 pages, which includes: 4 pages of answer keys/directions, 1 student worksheet, and 16 pages for the center materials (8 full color and 8 in black and white). Please note, you will not use all 16 pages of center materials; you will only need to print the 8 in full color OR the 8 in black and white. In total, students will have 30 words to practice!
What is a 'picture key'?
A picture key is used to help you (or the students) determine what a picture represents. We've all been there: staring at an image trying to figure out what word is represented. The picture key means you can quickly look to see what word each picture is, so you will no longer be stumped if the arrow is pointing to the 'fin' or the 'big' fish! The picture key also doubles as an answer key.
How long will this take to prep?
I highly recommend laminating the materials. This center requires each plate and cookie to be cut (5 plates, and 30 cookies). This kind of project is one I like to do while curled up on the couch, binge watching my favorite TV show!
Do you have any more CVC seasonal centers?
