Using a Christmas Carol (or song or a Winter themed one), students will analyze the poetic elements in use and their impact on the song.

This process has students start with the close reading, using the fill-in-the-blank student printable. After completing the worksheets, students are provided the instructions with how to turn those worksheets into the rest of their essay. This puts the emphasis on the close reading and how that evidence creates the rest of the essay.

Sampling of Non-Religious and Winter Songs provided along with some Poetic Device Samples.
