Teach your students the basics of (unplugged) coding, computer science, and STEM with this Christmas themed product. Student groups use coding cards to program Rudolph to get to Santa on five different game boards, while following the rules of each game (dance, jump, spin, pick up candy canes).
Display the game board on your smart board and go over the rules for the specific game board. Students will write the code in groups using the coding cards, and bring it to the teacher when finished. The teacher is Rudolph on the life size game board, and will follow the code the students have written. If students make a mistake, the teacher says, "Bug in the system!" and students go back to rewrite their code by rearranging their coding cards.
This is a hands on product that can be used in 1st-4th grade classes.
