What educators are saying

Love this! This spirals skills while also introducing them to things we are going to focus on down the road.
My students loved these Christmas-themed literacy cards. They were perfect to help us stay focused during our crazy month of December.

Description

These Christmas and winter themed ELA/Literacy centers are perfect for keeping your kiddos engaged during the holidays! These center task cards and games were designed to review important grammar and literacy skills taught in 2nd-3rd grade.

This activity pack includes 8 center station activities:

  • "Unwrapping Possessive Nouns" Task Cards with Recording Sheet

Turn the underlined part of the sentence into its possessive form. Rewrite the sentence in possessive form.

  • "Ho, Ho, Ho! Parts of Speech" Task Cards with Recording Sheet

Identify the nouns, verbs, and adjectives in each sentence. Record the parts of speech under the correct column on the recording sheet.

  • "Fixing Past-Tense Verbs" Task Cards and Recording Sheet

Identify the verb error in each sentence. Rewrite each underlined past-tense verb correctly.

  • "Sorting Out Cause & Effect" Task Cards and Recording Sheet

Match each cause with the correct effect. Place the cards beneath the correct header and record your answers.

  • "Decorating with Synonyms" Matching Game and Recording Sheet

Place the cards face down. Player one flips two cards over. If the cards are synonyms, the player keeps the cards. If they are not, flip them back over and it is the next player’s turn. Record the matches on the recording sheet.

  • "Spinning Parts of Speech" Game & Recording Sheet

Spin the parts of speech spinner with a paperclip and a pencil. Write a holiday word to represent that part of speech.

  • "Lighting Up Main Idea" Task Cards & Recording Sheet

Use the details from each story to identify the main idea of the text. Record three details and the main idea for each story.

  • "Write Away!" Task Cards and Writing Paper

Choose a task card and answer the writing prompt. Includes list writing, cards, how-to, informative, and narrative writing

All center activities are simple and require MINIMAL prep!
