The movie, Rise of the Guardians, would work well at Christmas, Easter, on a Snow Day, with Tooth Fairy or Jack Frost discussions, ideas about the Boogeyman or Sandman, etc. This Movie Design Project can be used in a variety of ways with your topic. It is a creative way to assess student understanding characters in the movie.

For this project, students will design 4 nesting dolls to represent each main character. The outline of the nesting dolls should be similar and simple. The internal features drawn and colored on each doll should demonstrate each chosen character trait. Students can choose these traits or be assigned/ guided by the teacher. The name of the trait is to be written underneath each rectangle. The outer doll is an obvious trait of the character while the central doll/ trait should be the driving force behind the character's choices.
