Holiday, Christmas "Commercialism" Critical Reading Activity
Critical thinking holiday reading activity in which students think about commercialism during the holidays. The students will read three editorials written by actual journalists from large newspapers. After the students read each editorial and analyze the writings of the author, they will answer eight response questions regarding author's tone, author's purpose, and much more. Great for persuasive text!
One authors thinks that commercialism has overcome the meaning of holiday spirit, one shares their opinion that changing the name of Christmas break to the "Holiday Break" is ridiculous and the last author is in the middle.
