This is a science informational reading passage about candy canes. It is an independent read for upper elementary grades, but would make a great read aloud for the lower grades. It talks about how candy canes came to be and how they are manufactured. Reference to a YouTube showing candy cane production is included. There are suggestions for creating your own assembly line. It is paired with a science experiment. There is also a suggested STEM project that students can work on while waiting to see the results of the experiment! There is a graphic organizer for independent follow-up work after the reading, as well as a recording sheet for the experiment.
