Have student’s graph daily if they think the line of Christmas items is a pattern or not a pattern.
In my classroom, we do this daily for two weeks. After student’s complete their morning chores, they must move their wallet sized picture to the column they think is correct. After breakfast, I call everyone over to the table and we look at the Christmas items and I ask student’s “is this pattern”? After several responses, I name the items one by one, review that a pattern repeats over and over and point out why it is or isn’t a pattern.
