This packet combines two great center packets ("Short Vowel and Long Vowel Sound Practice, Sorting and More!" and "Math Centers Galore!") It is full of math and literacy centers for your students to practice important skills in a fun and engaging way!
Included with every hands on center is a check for comprehension piece that allows you to hold students accountable for their work during centers as well as to check for their understanding after each skill.
Math Skills Included:
*Help Santa find the missing number in an addition sentence for example 3+__=10.
*Match stockings to find fact families
*Use presents to order numbers from 2-120 (counting by 2s,) 5-120 (counting by 5s,) and 10-120 (counting by 10s.)
Literacy Skills Included:
*Students will help an elf sort presents into Santa's Sleigh according to each word's vowel sound (short or long.)
*Students will also help the elf sort presents into Santa's Sleigh according to if it is a real or nonsense word.
*3 "I have.. who has" Games! The games are:
*Short Vowel Words
*Long Vowel Words (final -e)
Each "I have...who has?" game includes 30 cards so your entire class can participate!
All of the activities are aligned to the common core:
CC.K.R.F.3-Phonics and word Recognition: Know and apply grade-level phonics and word analysis skills in decoding words
CC.K.R.F.3.a- Phonics and Word Recognition: Demonstrate basic knowledge of letter-sound correspondences by producing the primary or most frequent sound for each consonant.
CC.K.R.F.3.b-Phonics and Word Recognition: Associate the long and short sounds with the common spellings (graphemes) for the five major vowel sounds.
CC.K.CC.1 Know number names and the count sequence. Count to 100 by tens.
CC.1.R.F.3- Phonics and word Recognition: Know and apply grade-level phonics and word analysis skills in decoding words.
CC.1.R.F.3.b-Phonics and word Recognition: Decode regularly spelled one-syllable words.
CC.1.R.R.3.c-Phonics and word Recognition: Know final -e and common vowel teams conventions for representing long vowel sounds.
CC.1.OA.4 Understand and apply properties of operations and the relationship between addition and subtraction. Understand as an unknown-addend problem. For Example, subtract 10-8 by finding the number that makes 10 when added to 8.
CC.1.OA.3 Understand and apply properties of operations and the relationship between addition and subtraction. Apply properties of operations as strategies to add and subtract. Examples: If 8+3=11 is known, then 3+8=11 is also known. (Communicative property of addition.)
CC.1.OA.5 Add and subtract within 20. Relate Counting to addition and subtraction (e.g., by counting on to add 2.)
CC.2.01.2 Add and subtract within 20. Fluently add and subtract within 20 using mental math strategies know from memory all sums of two one-digit numbers.
