Need some fun and easy lessons for the last week of school before the Christmas break?
This bundle includes two Mad Lib versions of popular Christmas songs. "Deck the Walls" and "The Twelve Days of Christmas". Super fun and easy for a fun way to sail into the Christmas break. Descriptions of each below:
"Deck the Walls": This is a fun lesson that uses the book "Deck the Walls" from Epic. (If you are not familiar with Epic you can sign up for free if you are a teacher at getepic.com) The story is a parody of the song "Deck the Halls" and involves the throwing of food to "Deck the Walls"! Your students will come up with the different words needed (ex: type of food, relative, type of weather, etc.) as you fill it in on the Smartboard. When the Mad Lib is finished sing it together for a fun and silly time together! Students can then draw their own pictures on a piece of construction paper of how they would "Deck the Walls" their own way.
~Prior to starting your lesson be sure to change the name on the first page to your name so it is representative of your classes mad lib.
"Twelve Days of Christmas": This lesson will go great with any "12 Days of Christmas" storybook. I used Roc and Roe's Twelve Days of Christmas by Nick Cannon.
After listening to the story create your mad lib. I have included a smartboard file to help you write your story on your smartboard. Students can fill in their own paper book. Students will select from different categories such as different types of animals (jungle, zoo, farm, etc.) and practice working on verbs and adjectives. When you finish your story you can sing YOUR version with your class. If you love mad libs, like I do, this is a fun activity. Students can take their new version home and sing it to parents after completing their version in book format.
This product contains 1 Smartboard lesson, 1 color "12 Days of Christmas" mad lib, and also a black and white version. There is also a link to a YouTube video for the "12 Days of Christmas"
**Please note you will need the Smart Notebook software to use both lessons.
