Teach ordinal numbers in an engaging way using this interactive math pocket chart. The pocket chart incorporates children's names and allows children to interact by manipulating the pieces. Use it during large group math or large group literacy time. Children also enjoy using the chart during center time by "reading" the rhyme as they point to the words. This is an original rhyme that I wrote. The rhyme uses ordinal words, such as first, second, third, etc. and has Christmas "gifts" with numerals on each one. Write children's names on a sentence strip and add their names in the rhyme.
Math Skills: ordinal numbers, numeral identification/recognition
Literacy Skills: left to right progression of print, shared reading, phonemic awareness through rhymes, names
