This is a SILENT game. Talking or making noises can get students eliminated from the game. Pass out cards to all students, face down. When you say “Buddy-Up!” they must QUIETLY find the person whose card matches their own. Half the cards have multiplacation problems and the other half have the answers. They hold their cards in front of them and think of all their possible matches. If a student has a "24" they should be looking for someone with "12x2", "6x4", or "8x3". They practice their math facts each time they check a friend's card. When they find their match, they link arms and come show you. If they have a correct match, they give you their cards then they return to their seats. If they did not find the correct match, tell them to keep looking.
There are 30 cards plus the "judge" card. Before the game, you should take out any extra cards. Make sure there is one for each student and the correct matches are also still in the game. If you have an odd number of students, you can use the “judge” card and they can help you decide if the matches are correct. Another option for odd numbers is, YOU can play the game. Kids love to be partners with the teacher! Each time you pass out the cards, it is a new game because students have new numbers.
