I hope that you enjoy reading The Polar Express as much as I do each December!
The Powerpoint begins with 2 versions of experiencing the story - with an 'audio-only' version of The Polar Express, or an audio version with the pages of the book as well. When I use this presentation in my classroom, I play the 'audio-only' version first while I show my students the illustrations in a hard copy of the book.
You could just as easily have your students close their eyes to visualize the story and then show them the illustrations at the end, or you could show them the audio and picture version only. So many options!
After listening to the story, several slides focus on comprehension by using the question words who, what, when, and why. The last slide focuses on 'bigger' questions that have more open-ended answers about the magic of the season and how that is addressed in The Polar Express.
Loaded with animations and a coupled with a timeless story, this power point is guaranteed to help you and your students rediscover the spirit of the holidays again and again!
Thank you to Scrappindoodles for the beautiful clip art!
