Christmas Traditions at the White House...Passage & Activity for INTERACTIVE NOTEBOOKS

I had the idea for this passage, and it turned out being fun to write. It's filled with some interesting facts I think your students will love to learn. This Christmas themed reading passage is perfect for the holiday season, or I really think you might could use it any time you are studying the White House. Kids are usually like me in the fact that they are just intrigued by the White House, so I think any time you use it they will find it interesting.

=======================

IMPORTANT---- I offer this SAME passage in two different formats. This particular passage is formatted for interactive notebooks. It is the exact same passage and questions just formatted differently from the full page version.

If you would like to purchase the one page passage with 6 text-based questions that go along with the passage, click HERE. You can then read the description to see which format works best for you.

=============================

This passage was written with 4th graders in mind, but it can be used with more advanced third graders or weaker fifth grade readers. Please use your best judgement.

This pack includes a short close reading passage that should help students better understand what a holiday tradition is and facts about several White House holiday traditions. The passage is a half sheet, so it will work perfectly to glue into an interactive reading notebook or social studies notebook. Once glued into the interactive notebook, students can write their thinking out to the side of the passage.

In addition to the passage, there are three flippable activities (all printed on one sheet) for their notebook. One is on the definition of adornments, one focuses on security background checks for volunteers that decorate the White House, and the other focuses on 4 comprehension questions related to the passage.

In addition to doing this activity as a whole group reading lesson, you could also have students do it during a literacy center. Feel free to use it in your classroom however you would like.

**PLEASE... if you see any typos, send me a message before you rate the product. I can usually have corrections made very quickly. Thank you ahead of time.
