A perfect blend of Christmas and Science! What fun for students as they construct balloon-rocket Santa Sleighs that are sent down a string track. Result tables are provided for students to measure distance and/or time that the sleighs travel. There is also a table included where the air volume in the balloon is changed and measured using the circumference of the balloon.
This activity not only addresses the force that causes the balloon to move (thrust), but also the forces that cause the balloon to stop (friction). Graphic notes are provided which focus on the forces of thrust and friction.
The Santa Sleigh template comes in color and black and white. In addition to the Sleigh template, there are also two Snowman templates provided to give you flexibility with choosing the theme. 3,2,1, blastoff!
