This packet is designed to help teach your students about community helpers with a Christmas twist. The activities address community helper vocabulary, following directions, answering questions, associations, and prepositions. Here’s a detailed look at what’s included:
Page 3: Community Building Vocabulary Cards- Use these flashcards to teach your students the names of the community buildings that are used in other activities. 12 flashcards.
Pages 4-13: Following Directions Maps- Santa is visiting the community buildings! There are 5 different maps that include pictures of community buildings. Each map has 16 different following direction cards with 2-3 components. For example, “Santa flies to the fire station and then the police station”. A manipulative piece (Santa’s sleigh) is on page 14,
Pages 14-17: Community Helpers Sentence Strips- Teach community helper vocabulary by completing sentences like “A _________ works at __________.” There are manipulative pieces on page 14 that you can cut out and use to complete the sentences.
Pages 18-23: Christmas Present Associations- Your students match Christmas presents to the appropriate community helper. There are 2 presents for each community helper.
Pages 24-28: Who Can Help Santa?- Students identify the community helper that could help Santa in a specific scenario. There are 16 scenario cards.
Pages 29-32: Preposition Flashcards- Flashcards that contain pictures of Santa’s sleigh and community buildings and target the following positional concepts: over, under, beside, between, in front, behind.
