Description

Trim trees and practice abcs! Students will decorate Christmas trees while practicing letter recognition, matching uppercase and lowercase letters, letter sounds, beginning sounds, and visual discrimination. This packet is perfect for holiday class work, extra practice, homework, learning centers, Christmas holiday parties, small group instruction, etc.

A digital, interactive version is now available that requires no printing, cutting, or laminating. You can find it here.

All activities are available in both color and black and white. Use separately or use the black and white sheets in combination with the full-color center as exit tickets.

Pages 4-11 provide practice in matching uppercase and lowercase letters. Students decorate the trees by finding the ornaments on each tree with the lowercase letters that match the uppercase letter on the star on top of the tree. Students can mark the ornaments by coloring them or marking them with dot painters.

Two blank trees are included that can be customized to your students’ needs.

Pages 12-18 provide practice in letter sounds / beginning sounds. Students decorate the trees by coloring the ornaments with objects that begin with the letter on the tree (the uppercase letter is on the star on top of the tree and the lowercase letter is on the tree stump).

Pages 18-24 are color versions of the uppercase / lowercase letter matching trees. They can be used as a learning center, a Christmas party activity, for small group instruction, etc. Laminate or place them in page protectors and have students decorate the trees by marking the correct ornaments with dry erase markers, bingo chips, counters, pom-poms, holiday erasers, cotton balls (snow balls), etc. Pages 4-11 can be used as exit tickets for this center if desired.

Pages 25-33 are color versions that practice letter sound/beginning sounds. They can be used as a learning center, a Christmas party activity, for small group instruction, etc. Cut apart the ornaments and tree cards, laminate for durability if desired. Place them at a center and have students decorate the trees by placing the correct ornaments on the trees (the ornaments with pictures of objects that begin with the letter on the tree). Pages 12-18 can be used as exit tickets for this center if desired.

Answer keys are provided on pages 34-62 (included in the page count).
