This activity is for students just beginning to learn about coordinate grids and map skills. The x-axis of the grid is letters and the y-axis of the grid is numbers. This project can be used for a class for the Christmas season. Students will create a drawing of a Christmas tree using various colors to fill in the grid. When finished they can add decorations for the holiday.
This activity can be a class project or something to be worked on independently when time allows. It also works as an extra credit assignment or when there is a substitute teacher. Looks great on a bulletin board, too.
This lesson includes graph paper for coloring, a list to fill in the colors and a full sized answer key.
If you like this project please let us know. We are working on creating more color grid projects.
