Christmas Warm-ups

Product Description

These are 12 different filler activities on holiday themes such as joy, the new year, gifts, Christmas, and winter. There are three types of activities here:

* 5 Word-Association Brainstorms in both printable and displayable form. This is a simple technique for introducing a new lesson theme and it can be used in almost any classroom for any purpose.

In my English classroom, I use it elicit vocabulary and activate schema before starting a new thematic unit. It's also a great way to evaluate student knowledge of a subject, their feelings, thoughts and interests about it.

* 4 Snowball Games where students have a conversation by throwing their paper around the room randomly like a snowball. Each student has a piece of paper with a question or prompt on it. They respond, then crumple the paper up into a ball and throw it at random around the classroom. Each student picks out a new paper and continues the conversation. It's a lot of fun and helps students practice writing, communication, and of course, pitching!

* 3 Find Someone Who Activities where students find a fellow student that meets a particular description. It's a great way to get students mingling and getting to know each other a little better.

All of these activities have complete instructions and alternative ways of using them.
