This Christmas play presents a humourous look at Christmas festivities that often do not turn out the way they were intended. In this play/monologue, the family innocently invites Uncle Bob and his dog, Lizzy to come to stay for Christmas. Lizzy brings much calamity and the play ends with the fire department arriving to douse a blazing Christmas tree!
The play is based on my original poem which can be fully narrated and acted out, or characters can add speaking parts to the narration. The play includes six main characters plus any number of firemen (with no speaking parts) as well as two or three stage hands that need to make occasional appearances on stage, carrying signs for the audience. The length of this play is approximately 5-10 minutes. The stage notes that I have written include suggested pauses in the narration for action to take place so depending on how you might interpret those pauses will determine the length of the play.
